The film pressure sensor is an important apparatus employed in various works for the purpose of measuring and inspection of pressure at several locations. The sensors are composed of thin films that can sense changes in pressure. When pressure is pushed on the sensor, the film deforms. This change is sensed, and converted into an electrical signal.
Film pressure sensors, on the other hand, operate on what is known as piezoresistivity. This results in a modulation of the electrical resistance of the sensor due to the fact that this resistance is pressure dependent. As the film distorts, so does the resistance. This change is quantified and converted into pressure readings to which engineers and operators can easily relate.
